Online Web contest or Not?

                                                                               Week 16 ( Save $16 )
                                                                                   Week 17 ( Save $17 )

The internet has made it easier than before to enter online contest. Who wouldn't like to win that dream vacation? You no longer need to be filling out the form, posting the envelope and making a drop off at your local Post Office or mailbox .

There are so many contests that one has to find time in their busy schedule to sift through contest, prizes, and figure out which one's are just scams

Just trust your instinct and protect yourself from fake contest scams.  If an entry form request your banking and credit information.  It's a red flag to NOT enter.   Set up an different email just for your contest entries and keep track of the contests you enter.  The long rules and regulations are so important to read and often we just scroll down and check off the box (guilty as charged).  If  your still not sure about the entry, contact the company or google it to find out if the contest is genuine legit.  Note that the cyber criminals are out there dangling that dream vacation over your nose.  Just be aware !

There are tons of contests that are legit and the prizes are real.  Now how to increase your chances of winning? Enter contests on the prizes that you really want.  Look for giveaways that award more prizes vs.  just one single prize.  (It just gives you better odds to win.) Apparently, the more difficult entries have less competition, those are the entries where you may have to put more effort into whether it be surveys, recipes, creativity, jumping through hoops, etc.  The frustration is what increases your chances of winning much higher due to the less entry submissions...do not give up at this point!

I recently came across a contest and entered the "Lay's out to taste" contest.  I found trying to create a new potato flavor very challenging, I had to put on my "foodie cap" for this one.  The contest site was very user friendly and so much fun.  Once you created your chip flavor, your chip flavor appears on several  Lay's potato chip bags with a image.  The interactive site goes beyond to create a short video with my chip flavor.

The contest ended April 22nd and opened to only Canadian's . I believe this contest is an annual event so if you missed the deadline this year, there is always next year to come up with that unique flavor.  With the thousands of entries and so many interesting flavors such Salted Caramel popcorn chips to Spaghetti and Meatball chips.  Here is my favorite entry Haggis Chips...lol! or should I say ewww!

I cannot wait for the 3 winning entry flavor winners and to be able to taste and vote on the flavors chips when they are available this summer ( I hope my submitted flavors get picked ).  Stay tuned and look out for this future blog.

Just remember,  your chances of winning is based on pure luck! But you can learn from other entrance winners and learn what they did right and use that information to improve your next future entry to increase your luck.

  1. Found your blog on bloglovin. This is a very helpful and informative post, thank you. I have never participated in any online contests before but I might just have to look into it now.

Too bad I can't participate in the Lays contest. I'm from PA. What an Interesting chip flavor you have come up with! It might be a little too sweet for my tastes though.

    1. I know there is an version of this contest in the U.S. and U.K.

So many crazy flavors entries, Lays does select 2 savory and 1 sweet flavor chip entries at the end. I was just happy to be apart of the contest.

  2. I won free concert tickets before. The Internet can be a seedy place, one has to be on their guard against scams.

That chip contest sounds like fun. Has anyone picked a salsa flavor?
