Knit one, improve's you

                                                       Week 13 ( Save $13 )

There are lots of hobbies that seem to be something of the past…like knitting and crocheting . When we think of knitting, we have this image of our grandmother’s knitting away .

The fact is, knitting and crocheting are on a comeback. With so many yarn and knit café popping up everywhere is there a great demand for knit goods?

Did you know that knitting and crocheting can improve your mind body and mood?
Knitting not only lowers your heart rate and blood pressure.  Knitting also has that same meditative state that yoga offers. It allows the mind to refocus and soothe worries.
When you knit, you are subconsciously sharpening your memory with counting rows, measuring, patterning, etc.  The more you use it, the more stronger your memory and focus becomes.

Studies have shown that older people who knit or crochet had a decrease chance of age-related cognitive impairment or memory lost. Knitter and crocheters had the healthiest brains and memories.

Nimble busy hands, reduces mindless eating.  Occupied hands, no time to scooping up snacks. It also keeps finger muscles and hands tones and may prevent arthritis.

Relieves chronic pain, keep the mind and memory sharp, boosts confidence, pride and self esteem,  sense of accomplishment, therapeutic benefits and at the end of the knitting project... It’s unique and made by you!
Maybe that is why so many people of all ages are learning to knit and crochet. How about you?

Meal in a mug

                                                                             Week 12 ( Save $12 )

Here is a super quick meal you whip up in a mug.  Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Just a few ingredients and a quick zap in the microwave and feed that hunger.  The combinations are endless... Just use what you have available in your refridgerator.

I slice of bread (tear into small pieces)
2 Tbsp chopped ham
2 Tbsp shredded cheese
2 Tbsp chopped red pepper
1 large egg beaten
2 Tbsp milk
Salt and pepper to taste

In a sprayed or buttered mug.
Mix all the ingredients together.  Microwave for 1 minute on high (or an additional 30 second, depending on your microwave) until done.

Double the ingredients for double goodness!

Now dig in and eat! Don't forget to top it off with your favorite condiment.

With only one mug to wash and a fork, how easy was that!

Daylight Saving

                                                                        Week 11 ( Save $11 )

Don't forget to set your clocks forward one hour or maybe you did set it back last night before you headed to bed. It marks the beginning of Day light saving time in Canada.  Is it a sign of winter is on it's way out and spring will soon arrive?  The mark of Spring is still a week away and it with the cold temperatures outside, winter is not leaving anytime soon.

Image result for daylight saving timeWe will lose an hour of sleep and gain more daylight and yet studies show that Day light saving time does affect our internal clock. It throws our eating habit, sleep, our daily pattern whether it be home or work related. Driving accidents have known to increase during time adjustment. I suggest, staying off the roadways if possible.

Yes, the DLS is a must, why make the clock change the day before the work day.. Monday? Why don't we all turn the clocks back on the Friday at 2am so we have the weekend to slowly adjust? It's just an thought.

It's March break here and for those who are fortunate to have the week off with the kiddies, enjoy that extra day light!
